The top amateurs from all over the world competed against the best of the best in the sport every year at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN. This year the week long event took place from July 29th to August 3rd. A switch up from last year with several days of rain, we experienced one day of rain and a week full of sunshine, heat and humidity!

The history of Axell Hodges and his relationship with EVS is a story in itself. Axell grew up racing motocross and was a mainstay on the amateur motocross scene for several years. He had worn and tried a number of different knee braces from competitors of EVS, but after suffering yet another significant leg injury, Axell ditched his knee braces, and became a knee guard guy. Axell was quickly on the rise in terms of his popularity when he was first exposed to the EVS knee guards.

The 2023 AMA rulebook states that “It is highly recommended that chest and back protection be worn by all competitors. It is required for all competitors in Youth Classes to wear chest and back protection. The protector may be worn under or over the jersey, and it should cover the sternum anterior ribs, posterior ribs, and spine from T1 to T12. For road racing a back protector must be worn under their leathers unless integrated into the design of the leathers."

At age 57, Arnold "Dominator" Martinez is still a racer at heart and loves winning.
